Welcome to Studio Fredrikson
I grew up listening to bands like Kiss, Alice Cooper, New York Dolls, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Budgie etc. After that I started my own musical carreer when I bought my first electric guitar the day after my twelfth birthday. Soon after that I started my first band, my first of many local bands. By the age of 17 I became the bassplayer in the hardrock group Axewitch. By the same time I started to get interested in the technical side of the sound, both in the studio and live.
From 1988 I have been working, in the studio and live, with artists like Entombed, Marduk, Motvind, Louise Hoffsten, Glen Matlock, Brian James, Lok, Broder Daniel, Johan Johansson, Cod Lovers, Stillborn, Njurmännen, Mary's Creek, Tom Nouga och Träpissoaren, Blå Häst, Vagh, Downbound Train, Nashville Neurotics, Henry Fiats Open Sore, Skin Area, Clockwork Crew, The Clichés, Sonic Surf City, Transport League, Sven Zetterberg, Zooparty, Limiteds, Kaos Kris Och Helvete, Chickenpox, Trailerpark Idlers, Kalle Baah, Mazarin Street, Loosegoats, The Facer, Nifters, Naked, Bear Quartet, Squawk, Brain Dump, Pole Position. Just to mention a few.
No style or genre is alien to me.
Music and sounds is my fuel!

The studio has three recording rooms, all with different characters and sizes. This means that the studio is great for making live recordings with a good opportunity to separate singers, instruments and amplifiers in different rooms!
The Main Room: is 24 square meters and is additionally possible to mitigate by using drapes or you can choose it to sound very ambient! The room is well suited for drum recordings and other acoustic instruments.
The gap: 6 square feet, a pretty "hard" and unmitigated room works well for guitar amplifiers and drums.
The small room: 3.5 square meters, very subdued suitable for vocals, acoustic instruments and amplifiers.
Besides those already mentioned, the rooms there is also a control room that is 11 square meters, there is also a toilet and kitchenette!

Tips for your recording session
Tips and tricks from Studio Fredrikson.
(If you choose to record yourself and let us do the mixing.)
Recording drums:
There are so many ways to record drums but we will give you some advice if you want us to mix your recordings.
1.Don´t use any eq or compressor when you recording drums.
2.If you are using triggers, record the trigger signal, snare and kick drum.
We will use this signals to trigger noise gates and to re-sample the drums with Slate digital trigger 2 or superior drummer if needed.
3.Record separate samples of each drum and cymbal.
We will use these samples to replace drum hits if needed.
4.Don´t overload the recording signal, but make the signal in as strong as possible.
Example of channel setup for drums.
With dynamic microphone: channel 1.kick drum channel 2.snare top channel 3.snare bottom channel 4.tom1 channel 5.tom2 channel 6.floor tom |
With condenser microphone: channel 10.triggmick bd channel 12. room mic

4.Use a Shure SM57 or similar mike, and place it 10-12 cm from the speaker.
5.Tune the guitar after each take.
6.Split the signal with an DI- box from the guitar, one signal goes to the amplifier and the other direct to the computer.
Record both signals on separate channels. We will use the clean signal to re-amp the guitar if needed.
Recording vocals:
1.Don´t use any eq or compressor when you recording vocals.
2.Don´t overload the recording signal, but make the signal in as strong as possible.
3.Use a pop filter It serves to reduce or eliminate 'popping'
4.Use a condenser microphone if it´s possible.
Recording bass guitar:

Recording synthesizers:
1.If you are using keyboards on your recording do a mixdown of every keyboard track.
Prepare for mixing:
1.When everything is recorded do a mixdown of every track starting at zero.
Wave files 44,1khz and 24bit mono or stereo files depending on the instrument.
2.Don´t use any master fx (like compressors,eq or maximizers).
3.Name each track, Kick drum, guitar, vocals etc.
4.Put all the tracks in a separate folder for each song.
5.Include all the midi files starting at zero.
6.Include all the bpm information for each song.
Good luck with your recording session.
